It was in 1954 during the World Cup Final between Germany and Hungary that the Miracle of Bern happened (3:2). After demolition of the historical stadium, the new Stade de Suisse was constructed on the same site which is situated in a residential area and is not only a sports arena but also includes a shopping centre and restaurants.
The objective was to create a brilliant and atmospheric lighting concept, at the same time taking economical aspects into consideration. Warm white light flows out of the entrances to the stadium. Once inside, brightly illuminated passages take the visitor to the other areas. The light provided by the flloodlights accentuates the rhythm of the architecture and creates an exciting atmosphere also outside the grandstand.
Thanks to his great imagination and enthusiasm, the lighting consultant was successful in creating an economical general lighting concept of outstanding brilliance and vitality.
This project was realized using Superlight Compact narrow beam spotlights, most of which are fitted with a ribbed glass sculpture lense to create a band-shaped distribution.
